Beautiful lodge with an attractive hummingbird garden

Birds Hotel Molino is a beautiful lodge, constructed around a small garden with hummingbird feeders that attract beautiful species like Green-and-white Hummingbird, Great Sapphirewing and Sword-billed Hummingbird.

It is one of those places where you feel in every corner that it is managed with love and dedication. We used it as base for a birding trip to Ipal Ecolodge, Inkatambo Garden, Tunkiwasi Lodge, Abra Málaga and Ensifera Camp, but it is also an excelent place to just relax and connect with the surrounding nature.

It offers big rooms with comfortable beds, verandas with views on the hummingbird garden, a living room with many books about nature and a hide for photographing some common of the more song birds. It is located on a quiet dirt road, so one can also make walks in the surrounding area.

The owner is a dedicated man, full of ideas and stories, super friendly and excellent company. He was our guide for the three days we spend between BHM and IPAL Ecolodge. Super recommendable.

Disposición para hacerte sentir mejor que en casa

Hace unas semanas regresamos al hotel luego de poco más de un año y podemos decir que está cada vez mejor, en las instalaciones, en la gran variedad y cantidad de colibries y aves vy la muy buena atención y disposición para hacerte sentir mejor que en casa, del anfitrion Holmes, gracias por unos días espectaculares.

I visited the Birds Hotel Molino during a visit to Peru with the aim of photographing birds. It was one of the best and most pleasant surprises I have ever encountered. The kindness and professionalism of Holmes Pantoja (the person in charge) are extraordinary. In addition to some species that are a little difficult to photograph anywhere else, I had the opportunity to photograph in a nearby lagoon using a hydrohydrode provided by them. I highly recommend it.

Quedamos encantadas

Es el mejor lugar para descansar, no existe ruido de la ciudad solo la naturaleza verde y sonido de colibries y tangaras viven en armonia, fui con mis amigas a fotografiar aves, quedamos encantadas. El desayuno delicioso cafe negro con buen aroma. El anfitrion muy amable.

Great place to stay in Sacred Valley

Holmes was a great host both in the hotel and on the trails, of which he is extremely knowledgeable. Accomodations were a mix of old-world charm and modern conveniences, and were very comfortable. Located in a pristine setting in Sacred Valley, Peru, the hotel is home to an amazing array of birds, including numerous hummingbirds.

Hidden hummingbird oasis

A short distance up a rough track is a hummingbird paradise.

This beautiful accomodation with it’s artisan charm is home to a staggering number of hummingbirds visiting the amazing array of flowers and numerous feeders. The heady scent of datura and jasmine fills the air and the birds are active from dawn until dusk, some within touching distance. There’s also a hide for viewing the the other birds that visit this beautiful garden at close range.

Holmes is an expert photographer and has arranged everything to maximise the chances of getting stunning photos with uncluttered backgrounds. He is a great teacher too. I arrived with a long lens and not much knowledge of how to use my equipment.

Holmes schooled me in metering, composition and setup and now I am taking pictures I expected to get and not the random attempts I had before. Also because there is so much bird activity it is great practice snapping away at birds in flight and stationary. Otherwise the food and accommodation are perfect.

I would highly recommend a visit to Holmes place either to just relax in gorgeous surroundings, to see the birds or practice your photography skills.
