Itinerary

Day 1: Lima - Cusco – Sacred Valley

Upon arrival in Cusco, enjoy a scenic two-hour drive to the Sacred Valley. Check-in at Birds Hotel Molino located near Ollantaytambo and have lunch.

In the afternoon, explore Birds Hotel Molino gardens, which attract a wide variety of hummingbirds and other species. We'll also offer settings for artistic photography in natural habitat to help you capture the beauty of our bird visitors and residents.

Day 2: Machu Picchu 

At dawn, head to the Ollantaytambo train station for a scenic ride to Machu Picchu. Spend the entire day exploring the ancient citadel, birdingwatching (not photographing) the surrounding areas, or simply soaking in the cultural and natural beauty of the site. Return to Birds Hotel Molino in the evening for a restful night.

Note: if you would like to visit Machu Picchu, please be aware that you will need to have train and entrance tickets. We are happy to help you with booking. We are also happy to offer an additional day of birding in the Sacred Valley if you choose not to visit Machu Picchu.

Day 3: Sacred Valley – Chinchero – Cusco – Lima

Start the day with morning birding at Birds Hotel Molino. Afterward, we transfer to Ollantaytambo for a visit to the impressive Inca ruins, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we continue to Chinchero, a charming Andean village known for its traditional weaving and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Late in the afternoon, we head back to Cusco.

Fly to Lima that evening or, optionally, stay an extra day in Cusco for further exploration.

Day 4 (Optional): Cusco – Lima

If you choose to stay an extra day, spend the morning wandering through Cusco’s cobblestone streets. Explore Inca and colonial monuments, and take in the rich history of this extraordinary city. Fly to Lima in the afternoon or evening.
