Itinerary

Day 1: Sacred Valley – Laguna Huaypo and Chacán

Morning departure from the Sacred Valley with scenic drives through the Andean foothills. Birding along the wetland edges of Laguna Huaypo and Chacán. Afternoon exploration of nearby scrub and agricultural patches for strigiformes.

Overnight at Birds Hotel Molino.

Target Bird Species: 

Yellow-billed Teal, Yellow-billed Pintail, Crested Duck, Peruvian Torrent Duck, Andean Duck, Ruddy Duck, Cinnamon Duck, Puna Teal, American Golden Plover, Black-necked Stilt, White-rumped Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Andean Coot, Many-coloured Rush-tyrant, Great Egret, Western Cattle Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Chilean Flamingo, Silvery Grebe, White-tufted Grebe, Short-eared Owl, Burrowing Owl,  Lesser Horned Owl,  Peruvian Pygmy-Owl.

Day 2: Sacred Valley – Laguna Huaypo and Chacán

Early morning return to Laguna Huaypo and Chacán for additional wetland birding. If there is time left, afternoon birding in Anta area for another try at strigiformes.

Target Bird Species: 

Yellow-billed Teal, Yellow-billed Pintail, Crested Duck, Peruvian Torrent Duck, Andean Duck, Ruddy Duck, Cinnamon Duck, Puna Teal, American Golden Plover, Black-necked Stilt, White-rumped Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Andean Coot, Many-coloured Rush-tyrant, Great Egret, Western Cattle Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Chilean Flamingo, Silvery Grebe, White-tufted Grebe, Short-eared Owl, Burrowing Owl,  Lesser Horned Owl,  Peruvian Pygmy-Owl.
